Google Scholar Links

Add Google Scholar lookup links to article references

What it does

Google Scholar Links adds a clickable “View in Google Scholar” link next to every reference in an article’s bibliography. Readers can find cited works with a single click — no need to copy and paste titles.

How it works

Once enabled, the plugin automatically processes the references section on every published article page:

  1. Each bibliography entry gets a Google Scholar search link appended
  2. Clicking the link opens Google Scholar in a new tab with the reference pre-searched
  3. No configuration or API keys needed — it works out of the box

Key features

  • Zero configuration — install, enable, done
  • Works with all reference styles — the plugin uses the full reference text for the search query
  • New tab — links always open in a new browser tab, keeping the reader on your article
  • Customizable label — change the link text in the plugin settings

Features

  • Automatic Google Scholar link next to every bibliography entry on article pages
  • Configurable, multilingual link label (default: "View in Google Scholar")
  • Opens in a new browser tab
  • No API configuration needed — uses public Google Scholar search
  • Localization: English

Requirements

  • • OJS 3.4+ or 3.5+
